误打误撞，机缘巧合

Ivy姐在恩群社区服务参与了多项义工活动，例如，在疗养院做化妆的活动，去疗养院是和一大班的人去唱歌，跳舞给老人看，有时也跟老人家他们聊天，帮他们写故事，了解他们的嗜好。

最初，Ivy姐到恩群社区服务的活动场所是为了要与朋友会面，后来，就渐渐的参与了其他恩群社区服务的活动，她说：

"我是在很偶然的机会认识到恩群社区服务的活动，第一次来是因为来与朋友会面，然后就被活动吸引，一有空余的时间就来唱唱歌，所以就这样过来了。我是“误打误撞”，机缘巧合下加入的。"

Ivy 姐以前没到过疗养院，不过曾经有想过去当义工，但是不知道从何开始，往哪里去？要怎么做？

来到了恩群社区服务之后，她才开始理解并参与了义工活动。她说：

"这边做义工还蛮好的，蛮轻松的，有时可以跟他们（疗养院的居民）聊聊天，去拜访不同的疗养院的住户，顺便完成义务工作，我一共去过三间疗养院。”

刚开始的时候，Ivy 姐并不知道怎样做义工，她便上了一些培训，了解怎么样和疗养院的居民聊天，学习有那些话题可以多谈，那些话不该谈。

过后，她被邀请参加不同的疗养院的关怀义工，慢慢的学习和疗养院的居民聊天。

她会参与义工是因为她曾经有一段时间，行动不方便，不可以动，因此感同身受。她说：

“以前我有一度得了一场病严重到不能行动，所以我能感受到疗养院那些行动不方便的居民的那种滋味，我能理解的。 ”

Volunteering by Chance

Mdm Ivy has participated in a few volunteer programme organised by En Community Services Society (ECSS).

She helped out at nursing homes as a make-up artist for the Memory Makeover Programme.

She also sings and dances with the Volunteer Performance Group for residents and befriends them, helping them to record their life stories.

“Coincidentally, I got to know about En Community Services Society when I was looking for my friend at their activity hall.

When I got here, I was drawn to the programme offered, such as the singing sessions, hence, I participated.

It was a stroke of serendipity that I joined (the programme at ECSS).”

Prior to joining ECSS's programme, Mdm Ivy has never visited a nursing home. She had some intentions doing volunteer work even though she did not know much about it.

After participating in some of ECSS's training programme, she learnt about volunteering and decided to sign up as an ECSS volunteer. She said,

“The volunteer assignments offered here is manageable and not strenuous, I can talk and visit residents at different nursing homes, while doing volunteer work."
