义工让人开心
“我觉得这个义工项目很有意义，还能够让我有机会和一大班人去老人院， 让所有参加这个活动的人都很开心。” - 恩群社区服务义工，Janet， 60+岁
我们的义工，Janet 老师是一为退休的音乐专业人士，她刚加入恩群社区服务的时侯，她正在寻找用四弦琴合奏的朋友。
恰巧当时，恩群社区服务的四弦琴活动刚刚开始，大家对四弦琴的演奏技巧还很是生手疏。
Janet老师了解了情况后，就决定帮助恩群社区服务的四弦琴乐龄学习班。
学生们的好学加强跨进演奏技巧，让义务担任四弦琴的指导老师雀跃。
实际上，Janet 老师退休前，她也是个家喻户晓的歌手，曾经到过不同的国家和在各种规模的舞台表演歌唱，她后来也负责恩群社区服务歌唱班的指导。她说：
“在我们的歌唱班里，有些人开始是根本不会唱歌的。
但他们很用心地去学习，然后他们从中也找到了快乐。
我很佩服他们，因为他们的年纪已经70多岁，但他们都没有放弃学习。
他们勇敢的站出来在台上唱歌，表演，看着他们，我感到很开心。”
为什么Janet 老师会开始这项义工指导的活动呢？主要是因为这个活动带给大家的是喜乐。她说：
“我觉得这个义工项目很有意义。后来会继续做是因为做义工时，还有机会和一大班人一起去老人院探访，分享学会的歌曲 让参加这个活动的所有的人都很开心。”
她还认为志愿服务，可以：
“帮助到别人，同时也帮助到自己” 。
年轻时的Janet 老师，因为工作的需要，常常出差国外，她当时并没有空余的时间做义工。
实际上，她是退休后才对参加义工的活动产生了兴趣。

Volunteering Makes People Happy
“the reason I volunteer is because I think it's rewarding. While doing volunteer work, I still have the opportunity to go to the nursing home with a large group of people. The participants are very happy.” - ECSS Volunteer, Janet, 60+ years old
When our volunteer, Ms Janet was here at En Community Services Society, she was looking for fellow musicians to jam together as an ensemble with ukulele,
but she found that there are some seniors who just started with their ukulele.
She then agreed to helped out as a volunteer trainer with the elementary Ukulele class with En Community Services Society, and then the Singing classes, and she said,
“I was very happy to be able to help the elderly individually to play the Ukulele and to sing more confidently.”
She enjoys volunteering because it makes people happy, for both participants, fellow volunteers and the residents at the nursing homes,
“the reason I volunteer is because I think it's rewarding.
While doing volunteer work, I have the opportunity to go to the nursing home with a large group of people.
The participants are very happy.”
She also believes that volunteering is helpful to others and to her own self,
“Since I have time, why not take part in volunteer work?
Participating more in these volunteer activities is also helpful to us.
We help others, and help ourselves.
In fact, I became interested in participating in volunteer activities after I retired.
Before retiring, my job required me to go abroad and I didn't have time to volunteer.”
